bon-voyage tag and facebook challenge

One of our wonderful local librarians is leaving today.
She is bright cheerful and witty (and just happens to like my work..phew).
So instead of making her a good-bye or good luck card I was inspired by these beautiful papers from the Butterfly Collection by Pink Paislee here at Happy Daze and the little aeroplane is from The Websters Pages Hollywood Collection. I'm sure she would get the humour of a bon-voyage tag.

The tag is cut from a collage sheet of images and mounted onto cardboard. The little "ha-ha" sign and the blue flag are from the butterfly ephemera collection.

Happy Daze are currently running an In Flight Challenge on Facebook.....become a "liker" and you could enter your Winged Things too.

Till we meet again

It's a Pirates Life for me....for.....me.......for meeee.

I was asked to make a door plaque for a 12 year old boy, "no problem" says I..whilst inside thinking ...eeeeeck!!
My crafting stash may be big but it is full of girls things and certainly not 12 year old boy things!!

The closest thing I could come up with was a Pirate theme....not quite the machine gun wielding zombies that he wanted but I hope he likes it anyway.

I couldn't be bothered getting my hands dirty with inks so I used a match on the edges of the treasure map.....I think inks give a much better effect but at least this is authentic..lol!

I used the back of a wooden jigsaw puzzle, Sandylion papers and Mod Podge to attach and glaze the paper with.
I sanded the edges and painted/gessoed and glossy accented some Basic Grey skinny chipboard letters.

Then printed the words off the pc and stained them with a tea-dye stain.
The metal embellishment is from an ethnic bag and the winged boy came from a bag of chipboard ephemera from Paper Paradise made by the Provo Craft range of Etcetera products.

Keeping it Simple

My delightful son is so full of energy that those rare moments when he stops and takes it all in are precious.

The journaling says:
"Thoughtful moments are few and far between when you are 3 and full of energy!"

Love and precious moments
